The Insect Philosopher

from Century in the Boilpit by Scalpel

lyrics

Why so small?
And do they dream?
Savagely indulging in dark science

Determined
To behold
The exoskeleton

I must wear
The vermin armor
Endowing bugs with thoughts
Adoring their seething masses

Coveting
The form
Of the slender necked mantis

Enamored by
The ceaseless turning of the swarm

To illuminate the sorrows
Of all pests

Limitless
Strength
At my
Command

I watch them grow

Erupting the seed
Frothing
Burrowing
Molesting the genome
Of their kind

I have seen
The insects' dream
I am the contemplator of their churning

Trapped now between
The swarm and being
Their monolith
To devour

Suffocating
Within
The grip of the hive
Their thoughts infest my poison brain

Collapsing
From the weight of my children
My armor
Becomes my tomb

Empty postulations
The bug knows not frustrations

It is in this vein that we construct our own brutal dirges, devoid of genre restriction and eager to explore the darker realms of music. ... more
